In 2010 I quit smoking which was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but totally worth it. NO REGRETS. I began running and at the time, I couldn’t even make it around the block without stopping to catch my breath. I slowly continued to incorporate it into my life until I reached the point where I thought I could actually run a race. Over the next couple years I participated in many races, my biggest accomplishment being a half marathon in the fall of 2011. To be completely honest, that race kicked my ass! I never really got back into running after that and became a pro at coming up with excuses why I couldn’t run. “I’m working too much, it’s too cold, it’s too hot, I’m tired, etc…”
In the summer of 2012 I reached my heaviest
weight ever. Something had to change in my life. I needed to exercise 6 days a week, eat clean
with smaller portions, drink less alcohol, and being the perfectionist I am, I tried to
tackle everything at once. It quickly
became apparent this approach was both frustrating and overwhelming. My dad always says “How do you eat an
elephant? ONE BITE AT A TIME.”
Duh! I was trying to do so many new things that I was failing at all of
them.
I was on Facebook one day and saw series of
pictures of an average girl (like me) who just completed P90X. I was so inspired by her results, I
contacted her. Around the same time I
had a friend who recently purchased Insanity.
I went online, did as much research as possible, and compared the two
workout programs. Ultimately I chose Insanity because there was no equipment
required and it was 60 days instead of 90.
The first time I tried Insanity I made it 2
weeks. It was TOUGH! Afterwards, I signed up for a free Beachbody
membership in search of support. I didn’t
have to look very far. I was assigned a
coach who reached out to me and asked if I wanted to join her Beachbody
Challenge. It was a small group of
people doing similar workouts and replacing one meal each day with Shakeology. The support was just what I needed to start
another round of Insanity. I didn’t worry
about eating perfectly and focused my energy into doing my INSANE workouts. Once I knew I could consistently workout, I
turned my attention to eating healthier.
Beachbody’s core purpose is to help people achieve their goals and enjoy a healthy, fulfilling life, and that’s why I love being a Beachbody coach. I want to inspire others and help them reach their health and weight loss goals. I’m still working on my fitness journey, but each day I get a little stronger and a little healthier.
